However please note they may request copies of the receipts in the future. Therefore retain a copy of your receipt or be prepared to request a copy of a receipt in the future i.e. prescription receipts from your chemist, consultation fee receipts from your G.P. etc.
I think I might have already received tax relief on some items. Can I still claim a PAYE tax refund?

The date you receive your refund is ultimately determined by the processing time in the Revenue Commissioners.
Once we receive your completed application we immediately apply to the Revenue Commissioners for authorisation to access your Revenue records. (7-10 working days)
Once we have gained access to your records we will contact you with our estimated tax refund calculations and submit all paperwork to the Revenue Commissioners. (3 working days)
The Revenue Commissioners usually issue the refund within 2-4 weeks of receiving your application, however if we feel it may be longer we will advise you of this at the beginning of the application process.
The Revenue Commissioners will only process refund applications in relation to the four years previous to the year the application is made. For example, in 2010 refunds can only be processed in respect of the years 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Therefore it is important to apply for your tax refund as soon as possible, to avoid losing a potential tax refund for an earlier year
Our aim is to make the process as simple and as hassle free as possible for you.
As you can see from the Online Tax Refund Application most of the information we require can be discussed via the telephone or the internet. Therefore we do not require a meeting.
We don’t request these from you so as to keep the process as simple and hassle free as possible for you. We obtain this information directly from the Revenue Commissioners.
In certain circumstances we may require a copy of your most recent P60/P45 as the details may not yet be updated on the Revenue Commissioners system.
Once we receive your completed application and review your details we will contact you to discuss our calculations. If our calculations highlight an underpayment in tax we will discuss your options with you. We never contact the Revenue Commissioners until we have discussed and agreed on all courses of action with you first.
